Mr Brainwash returned to Art Basel: Miami Beach with another installment of his “Life is Beautiful” exhibition series, this time called “Untitled.”

This show overtook an entire building on Collin Avenue and 21st Street.

Again, the show was a hit, attracting collectors, gallery owners, and celebrities from all over the world

Mr Brainwash continued to bring his art all over the world, making his Canadian debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011.

Mr Brainwash’s installations were placed all over the city. They included his signature eight-foot tall spray can sculptures, each one a different film genre, and life-size Canadian Mounties cutouts, armed with boom mics and cameras.

Everywhere Mr Brainwash went, he was able to create a pop art conversation with the city for which he created.
Mr Brainwash also contributed a print of Grace Kelly for the film festival’s exhibition “Movie Star to Princess” in honor of the late film actress.

Gallery One in Yorkville hosted a solo exhibition for Mr Brainwash in Toronto, Canada. This time it was more of a small, intimate affair as opposed to Mr Brainwash’s usual grand style that overtakes warehouse-sized spaces.

This event was one of the few projects he had been involved in for the city; he had contributed sculptures for the Toronto Film Festival as well as a screen print for a Grace Kelly exhibit.

Following his acceptance of the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary the night before, Mr Brainwash and his wife Deborah Guetta attended the 83rd Academy Awards for “Exit Through The Gift Shop”.

“Exit Through The Gift Shop” received an Oscar nomination late 2010(the film premiered for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2010), also winning the Grierson Trust British Documentary Award in November of the same year.

Although “Exit Through The Gift Shop” did not win an award for its category, its nomination only fueled the infamy surrounding Banksy and the curious fixation on Mr Brainwash.

Following its successful Sundance premiere and its reception of the Grierson Trust Documentary Award for Most Entertaining Documentary, Mr Brainwash attended the 26th Independent Spirit Awards, hosted by Film Independent, to accept the award for Best Documentary.

Accepting the award in Banksy’s place, Mr Brainwash coyly responded to questions regarding the secretive artist, keeping up the intrigue surrounding the film and its creation.

Mr Brainwash was invited to fill the grounds of the Carmel International Film Festival, located in Carmel, California, with his work. The locals who were aware of MBW through Exit Through the Gift Shop and his first ever solo exhibition at Columbia Square in Hollywood, even offered their walls for Mr Brainwash to “do anything with.”
