From The Archive: Life Is Beautiful, Solo Exhibition at ARA Museum, Seoul, South Korea
In June 2016, I presented Life Is Beautiful, a major solo exhibition spanning three floors of the ARA Museum in Seoul, marking another important milestone in my international career and bringing my work to South Korea.
The exhibition presented my signature mix of street art, pop culture, and positive energy throughout the museum. During its run, Korean artist PSY also filmed a music video within the exhibition, creating an unexpected intersection between contemporary art, music, and Korean pop culture.
From The Archive: Life is Beautiful First Solo Show.
In June 2008, Mr Brainwash marked a pivotal moment in his artistic journey with his inaugural solo show, “Life is Beautiful,” hosted at the historic CBS Columbia Square Studios in Hollywood, California. Taking over the former film studio, which had been closed since 2007, Mr Brainwash curated a groundbreaking exhibition that showcased his diverse talents across sculptures, installations, paintings, and prints. The choice of this iconic venue, originally known as Nestor Film Company, added a layer of cinematic history to the immersive experience. Despite encountering a setback, having fallen off a ladder during the preparations, resulting in a broken leg, Mr Brainwash persevered. The grand opening drew unprecedented crowds, with eager art enthusiasts lining up for hours, and some even bypassing security to catch a glimpse of MBW’s transformative and larger-than-life artworks. This successful debut marked the beginning of Mr Brainwash’s ascent in the art world.
MBW x Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance
The 31st annual Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance returned to Beverly Hills on Father’s Day, welcoming thousands of automotive enthusiasts, families, and visitors for one of Southern California’s premier automotive celebrations. Honoring America’s 250th anniversary, the centennial of Route 66, and the Rodeo Drive Committee’s 50th anniversary, the event transformed Rodeo Drive into a showcase of extraordinary automobiles, from historic classics to the world’s most coveted supercars and hypercars. Mr Brainwash exhibited Beautiful Horsepower, a sculptural installation featuring three full-scale automobiles, a 1973 Porsche 911, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, and a 1962 Ferrari GTO, alongside one of his signature artworks. The presentation celebrated the enduring connection between art, craftsmanship, and automotive design while bringing Mr Brainwash’s vibrant contemporary vision to one of Beverly Hills’ most beloved annual traditions.
